So he isn't too surprised when he is mistakenly convicted of stealing a pair of running shoes and sent to Camp Green Lake, an unusual detention center in the middle of a wasteland, where each day Stanley and the other boys are forced to dig holes exactly five feet wide, and five feet deep. Here Stanley learns valuable lessons about endurance and hard work and meets a fascinating cast of fellow residents. Novel by Louis Sachar. Reproducible chapter questions, plus comprehension questions, a story summary, author biography, creative and cross curricular activities, complete with answer key.
