This lesson teaches the long vowel "a" sound. Each lesson includes teacher information, vowel rules, teaching objectives, a picture card and 4 worksheets. Teacher directed instructions include auditory exercises for whole group instruction. A story or poem to help introduce the vowel and can be displayed on a SMART Board (or other interactive whiteboard) for whole group instruction. Use the macron (-) symbol over long vowel sounds while students are learning the various rules that pertain to vowels. This will help teach students how to sound out words independently.
