About this item

Magoutes Vineyard Xinomavro 2020 is a certified organic, unoaked red wine from PGI Siatista, a mountainous winegrowing region in Western Macedonia, Greece. Grown at altitudes reaching nearly 900 meters, the grapes benefit from rocky limestone soils and a cool continental climate that enhances their natural character. Crafted without filtration or manipulation, this expression of Xinomavro captures the essence of Siatista’s ancient yet resilient terroir—an area revitalized by Dimitrios Diamantis and George Papageorgiou after decades of near abandonment. In the glass, this medium-bodied red reveals a vivid aromatic bouquet of wild red flowers, lilac, and poppies that mingle with delicate spice and soft, sweet undertones. On the palate, the wine is youthful yet poised, its vibrant acidity lifting floral notes and weaving through bright hints of pink citrus. A crisp, mineral finish with a touch of herbal austerity lingers with elegance, shaped by the high-altitude vines and careful organic practices. It carries an alcohol content of 13%, making it balanced and refreshingly structured. Magoutes Vineyard Xinomavro 2020 is best enjoyed slightly chilled and pairs beautifully with Mediterranean-inspired dishes such as tomato-based risottos, grilled seafood like cuttlefish and octopus, or simply alongside charcuterie and roasted salmon. With the potential to age gracefully until 2028, it’s a thoughtful addition for those who appreciate minimal intervention wines that speak of place and tradition.
